TELEHANDLER TRAINING (aka Manitou)

This telehandler training describes the skills and knowledge required to conduct telescopic materials handler operations.

This unit applies to those working in site-based roles.

Please note: Licensing, legislative, regulatory and certification requirements that apply to this unit can vary between states, territories, and industry sectors, and must be sourced from state jurisdictions prior to applying this unit. In Queensland, there is no licensing requirement to operate a telehandler with a lifting capacity under 3T. As such competence in this unit (code RIIHAN309F) will allow a competent person to operate a telehandler in Queensland.

However, to operate a slewing telehandler with a jib or hook over 3 tonnes capacity in Queensland, will require the operator to hold a slewing mobile crane licence (C2, C6, C1 or C0 classes).  Non-slewing telehandlers with a jib or hook attachment over tonnes capacity will require a non-slewing mobile crane licence (CN).

Upon successful completion of this unit, the participant will receive a Statement of Attainment and a card issued by On the Job Training (RTO 70023) to prove competence on sites.

This unit alone does not provide sufficient skill to independently load and unload equipment. To perform this activity safely, personnel must either complete or be assisting someone who has completed RIIHAN308F Load and unload plant or equivalent.
